Texas Parks and Wildlife slapped with ANOTHER discrimination lawsuit

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two former cadets have filed a discrimination lawsuit against Texas Parks and Wildlife.

The suit, filed in Travis County, accuses the department of discriminating against African-Americans. Both cadets say instructors used harsher scrutiny and ridicule against them compared to non-African American cadets.

Following similar federal filings last year by the plaintiffs, this past January the agency went forward with hiring an executive in charge of diversity. It is the first major state agency to make such a move.

This latest lawsuit points out that in the nearly 50 year history of the division, only one percent of game wardens hired have been African-American.
