Dark Skinned East Indians Marched In Washington, DC To Protest Discrimination in Color-Biased Caste System

On 21 June, a global march was organized in Washington DC to support the end of caste-based discrimination.

The goal of the march was to show solidarity for the Dalit population world over, strengthen the caste freedom and human rights movements, and to advocate for the White House to endorse the draft UN Principles and Guidelines for the effective elimination of discrimination based on work and descent. The march also called for the US Congress to pass a binding resolution that demands action against caste-based discrimination and expands the geographic scope of its historical Concurrent Resolution on Untouchability in India.

Asha Kowtal of All India Dalit Mahila Adhikar Manch (AIDMAM) too participated in the march.
