Why America Will Never Secure Its Borders, It's The "Cheap Labor" Stupid

This is not going to be some fancy, long drawn out article with excerpts from a lot of "self important" people. This is just an honest evaluation of living in a cheap labor state like Texas and putting two and two together to figure out why a country with the most powerful military in the world, strategists all over the world in very remote places chasing down criminals in deserts and jungles and swamps can't seem to figure out how to secure our own damn border..

It's become apparent that the U.S. does not want to secure the borders because of the constant and growing need by corporations in this country for CHEAP and DISPOSABLE labor. The immigrants that come from these third world countries without knowledge of our legal system or a good grasp of our language are very vulnerable, very desperate, very hardworking and very exploitable people. If that door to Mexico was closed millions of American businesses that have grown accustomed to this cheap labor would be at a loss.

Every year I hear both Democrats and Republicans get up on their soap boxes and proclaim a desire to secure the borders. But all they end up doing is legalizing millions of these people so that they can compete for jobs driving down wages even further. And the borders remain unsecured.

Millions of these immigrants flee their countries to come to the U.S. for JOBS. A few border patrol agents and a few cameras along the expansive edge of the U.S./ Mexico border won't do any good. And these politicians know that. They only do that to appease the people.

This hits home for me because I am living in Texas and I see first hand how cheap labor has impacted the wages in this state. Ever since slavery, corporations have been in the constant hunt for the cheapest labor they can find. They actually don't want to pay anything. I live in an area full of nothing but minimum wage jobs and people are so desperate for work corporations now are demanding they do management level work taking over management level functions for minimum wage. There are factories here with folks hired on with no experience and trained in management level work who are responsible for being QC managers and Inventory Control Specialists and Grocery Selectors.. And they are trained to do this but are only paid minimum wage.

If you listen to the white folks tell it... These jobs demand around $40 to $50 thousand a year.. Yet there is so much labor and so few jobs people are doing the work of high level associates and being paid next to nothing. On top of all of this the republicans want to do away with minimum wage. This is what really irks me. Now if folks are willing to do the job of Managers for minimum wage just to have a job, and they roll back minimum wage requirements while still letting millions of cheap and exploitable labor flow into this country, companies will start paying around $3.00 per hour. Simply because they know they hold all the cards and that someone will be desperate enough to do that job.

And we actually wonder why the wealth of the top 10% in this country appears to be forever on an upward trajectory, while everyone else is becoming poorer and poorer and poorer.

Both parties are bought and paid for by corporations. They act in the interest of corporations. President Obama came the closest to changing things but he has become a Washington man overnight and is now a part of the problem, instead of being part of the solution. He "Double Deals" and is about as slick as they come. I watch him speak. And he speaks very often with a very forked tongue. He has learned how to appease both sides of the debate while remaining in the middle and really not doing much of anything at all but maintaining the status quo.

I no longer trust the reports I see of the average wages in this country being around $30,000 per year. That is only if these people are clocking massive overtime. I have lived in several states and I know that in all of these states so many people are hurting and struggling with seemingly no way out of their financial situation and making below $30,000  a year, and in some cases far below it.

At the same time, companies are doing more and more to make these people even more desperate than what they are by running credit checks for jobs that will have no financial responsibility and denying folks who are desperate to work any chance at finding employment. A friend of mine recently filled out a 50 page application for a job at a local factory where the starting pay is only minimum wage. On top of this, the place he said was packed with people looking for work and the company was charging applicants for both the drug test and the background check, which they were told would come out of their first check. Both of these tests added up to around $50.00. Now you do the math. A person making minimum wage working an eight hour shift would lose a full day's pay.

Did i mention this purported job was about 30 miles into nowhere? With no public transportation? And folks would be having to burn loads of gas just to get there and get back home? All for minimum wage?

We need to send someone to Washington, D.C. who can really change this system. I am a Democrat but I am willing to cast my vote for a CHANGE AGENT of ANY PARTY. I don't care which. I simply want someone to stand up to the Powerful and lobby on behalf of the millions of Americans who are languishing in poverty and despair while being exploited by Corporations.
